Fossil
The
rock formations surrounding Red Rocks Amphitheater, near Denver
served as the inspiration for a series of clay monoprints. The rich
red color of the rocks, the angular upthrusts of the massive slabs
and the wealth of fossils found in the formations seem to be exposing
the secrets of the very heart of the earth.
Clay monoprints are made by painting, stenciling and drizzling colored
clay slips onto a flat slab of clay. The one-of-a-kind prints are
made by working a thin layer of clay into the fibers of fabric or
rice paper. The print is 18.5"x26" on pellon. It is available
framed for $550.
